Rotimi Salami (born November 1980) is a Nollywood actor, filmmaker, producer, and creative entrepreneur. He has appeared in many films including Omoye (2017), Shadow Parties (2021), Just Not Married (2016), and Divorce Not Allowed (2018).

Salami has performed in English and Yoruba-language films. He has also won the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Early Life

Rotimi Salami was born in November 1980 in Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria. His father worked as a steel construction engineer, and his mother as a businesswoman. He moved to Ajangbadi with his father at a very young age. He is from a family of five and is the first son. He has a brother and two sisters.

Education

Salami attended St. Mary’s Nursery and Primary School, Ajangbadi, and Abeokuta Grammar School, Abeokuta, Ogun State. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Lagos State University and earned a Diploma in Film Directing from the New York Film Academy.

Career

Rotimi started acting in 2007. He has appeared in many productions including Omoye (2017) as Femi, Shadow Parties (2021) as Akinola, and Just Not Married (2016).

His role in the heist drama film Just Not Married earned him the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) for Best Supporting Actor. He appeared in the 2017 musical movie Stormy Hearts written by Brenda Ogbuka and Chijioke Ononiwu and produced by Judith Audu.

In 2017, Rotimi played Chibuzor in the comedy Diary of a Crazy Nigerian Woman written by Francisca Eleyele. He played Joe in the 2018 romantic comedy Divorce Not Allowed, produced and directed by Mike Ezuruonye.

He played Lucky Accessbet in the 2020 action comedy film Fate of Alakada, written by Moshood Yakubu Olawale and Ozioma Ogbaji. He appeared as Usman in the 2021 action movie Lugard, written by Laduba Quadri Qidad and Segun Akejeje.

Rotimi played Lanre in the 2022 romantic comedy film Hey You!, written and directed by Uyoyou Adia and Abosi Ogba, and produced by Victoria Akujobi. In 2023, he appeared as Alex in Oko Rere and Banji in Rush (Ìwànwara).

Aside from acting, Rotimi has produced other films. He founded the Monski Media Concept, through which he writes, directs, and produces compelling stories.

In 2025, he announced the initiative “Project Make a Star in Ojo”, dedicated to discovering and training acting talent in the Ojo area of Lagos State, in collaboration with the Ojo Local Government.

Rotimi Salami has won many awards and recognitions, including the Best Supporting Actor at the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). He was honoured with the City People Movie Award for Best Supporting Actor (Yoruba) in 2019.

Salami won Most Promising Actor at the 2016 Best of Nollywood Awards for his role in the movie Just Not Married.

Personal Life

Rotimi married Jumoke Salami in June 2015. They have two children, Bliss and Legend. He met Jumoke on the set of the series ‘Dear Mother‘ and dated her for three years.
