Tope Alabi (born 27 October 1970) is a Nigerian gospel singer, film music composer, and actress. She released her debut album, Ore ti o Common.
Alabi has released other albums, including “Certificate,” “Agbara Olorun,” “Agbara re ni,” “Kokoro Igbala,” “Angeli mi,” “Mori’Yanu,” and “Agbelebu”. She has also released “Alagbara,” “Oruko tuntun,” “Yes and Amen,” and “Igbowo Eda”.

Early life
Tope Alabi was born on 27 October 1970 in Lagos State to Pa Joseph Akinyele and Madam Agnes Kehinde Obayomi. She hails from Yewa in Ogun State. She started singing when she joined the choir in her local Catholic Church at the age of seven.
Education
Alabi attended and obtained her West African School Certificate from Oba Akinyele Memorial High School in Ibadan, Oyo State. She studied Mass Communication at the Polytechnic Ibadan in 1990.
Career
Tope ventured into acting and has appeared in many film productions. She worked as an actress and singer for the theater group Jesters International. After graduating in 1990, she worked as a correspondent at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Ibadan.
She often blends Yoruba proverbs and Christian teachings. In 2000, she released her debut album, Ore ti o Common. She released other songs, Agbara Nla (2001), Angeli Mi (2007), and Yes and Amen (2018).
Tope collaborated with Ty Bello to release the 16-track album “The Spirit of Light”. Her track “Logan Ti O De” became a global anthem of hope and faith. She released an 8-track album, “Oluwa Ni: The Spontaneous Worship,” in 2024.
With her husband, Soji, she runs the Mardebra Comforter Foundation. Through the organization, they support the less privileged. She also operates the music label Gospel Vibes with her husband.
Tope has won many national and international awards, accolades, and recognitions. She was honored with the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024, signed by U.S. President Joe Biden.
She was selected along with Joe Praise and Judikay as “Headlining Artistes” for the 7th edition of the Gospel Vibes’ “Praise The Almighty (PTA), concert in 2024.
Alabi has performed in globally ranking concerts such as “The Experience”, “Festival of Praise Manchester”, and PTA Concert. She has also performed in other countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
Personal life
Tope Alabi is married to music producer Soji Alabi. They have three children.
She lost her mother, Agnes Kehinde Obayomi, on 23 February 2017, and her father, Joseph Obayomi, passed on 16 December 2019.
Her daughter, Ayomikun, declared that Soji Alabi is the only father she recognizes, contradicting claims made by Mayegun Olaoye.
Olaoye claimed that he is Ayomikun’s biological father and that Alabi prevented him from connecting with her for 22 years. Ayomikun reaffirmed her relationship with Soji Alabi, who has been married to her mother for over 20 years.
