He began music at age 10. He formed the band, ‘Olushina and His Twelve Fantastic Brothers’, while playing with friends. He purchased his first car at age 13, became a father at 14, and built his first house at 16. He dropped out of school to focus on his music career.
Career
Shina Peters apprenticed under jùjú musician Chief Ebenezer Obey. He then joined General Prince Adekunle’s band. There, he learned to sing and to play instruments like the guitar and the piano.

He also served as the lead singer anytime Adekunle was ill. He eventually left General Prince Adekunle to team up with a colleague, Segun Adewale, to form a band.
Shina won the Best Guitarist Award organised by the United Nigeria Culture Organisation (UNICO) in 1970.
